Tulane Tangles with Tigers as NCAA Volleyball Tournament Opens

Longtime rivals Tulane and LSU add a new dimension to their long-running series on Friday as the two Louisiana powers meet in the NCAA Tournament for the first time as the at-large Green Wave face No. 15 LSU in the First Round at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Volleyball Draws LSU in NCAA Tournament

The NCAA Tournament is becoming a familiar event for the Tulane volleyball program, and in the 2009 edition, the Green Wave will certainly face a familiar opponent. Earning an at-large bid to the dance for the program’s second-straight NCAA Tournament appearance, the Green Wave will meet LSU for the third time this season, Friday, December 4 at 7:30 p.m. at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge.

Shepard Named to C-USA All-Academic Team

Tulane junior middle blocker Lindsey Shepard earned a spot on the Conference USA All-Academic team for volleyball. The Albuquerque, New Mexico, native owns a cumulative GPA of 3.87 in biomedical engineering. It’s the second-straight All-Academic honor for Shepard.

Volleyball Bounced From C-USA Semis by Tulsa, 3-0

In the matchup of the two Conference USA volleyball co-Players of the Year, it was the Freshman of the Year who stole the show. Tulsa freshman Tyler Henderson posted a match-high 18 kills as the Golden Hurricane swept Tulane out of the semifinals of the Conference USA Championship Saturday afternoon at Tudor Fieldhouse, (25-19, 25-19, 25-20)

Volleyball Pulls Away From SMU, 3-1, in C-USA Quarters

Senior outside hitter Ksenija Vlaskovic became the third player in Tulane history to reach 1,500 career kills, tallying 15 in the match with a career-high with 21 digs as the Tulane volleyball team out-lasted SMU, 3-1 (25-23, 25-27, 25-15, 25-18), at the Conference USA Volleyball Championship Friday afternoon at Tudor Fieldhouse. C-USA Co-Player of the Year Visnja Djurdjevic led all players with 22 kills, to go with 18 digs as Tulane improves to 18-8 overall and advances into the semis.

Volleyball Opens C-USA Tourney Friday vs. SMU

The Tulane Green Wave begins its defense of the Conference USA Tournament championship Friday at noon against SMU in the quarterfinals of the 2009 Conference USA Volleyball Championship at championship at Tudor Fieldhouse in Houston. The third seeded Wave have won the previous two meetings with the sixth-seeded Mustangs.

Volleyball Inks Three During Early Signing Period

On the eve of the 2009 Conference USA Volleyball Championship, the Tulane University volleyball team announced the addition of Azarri Badawi, Cori Martone and Melody Mandelbaum for the 2010 season as the trio inked National Letters of Intent to play for the Green Wave during the 2009 NCAA Early Signing Period.

Djurdjevic Named Player of the Year; Four Named All C-USA

Sophomore outside hitter Visnja Djurdjevic was named the Conference USA co-Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference USA, while senior setter Rachel Lindelow and senior outside hitter Ksenija Vlaskovic picked up Second Team honors. Freshman middle blocker Marija Milosavljevic earned All-Freshman team accolades.

Volleyball Draws SMU in C-USA Tourney Opener

The Tulane Green Wave will defend their title as the third seed in the 2009 Conference USA Volleyball Championship, and face sixth-seeded SMU on Friday at noon in the quarterfinals as Tulane looks for a second-straight C-USA title and a return trip to the NCAA Tournament as C-USA revealed the bracket for the eight-team championship at Tudor Fieldhouse in Houston, Friday through Sunday.
