Shepard Named to C-USA All-Academic Team

Tulane junior middle blocker Lindsey Shepard earned a spot on the Conference USA All-Academic team for volleyball. The Albuquerque, New Mexico, native owns a cumulative GPA of 3.87 in biomedical engineering. It’s the second-straight All-Academic honor for Shepard.

Women’s Basketball To Battle No. 7 LSU Wednesday In Fogelman

Fresh off a split weekend at the Navy Classic in Annapolis, Md., the Tulane University women’s basketball team will look to improve on a 2-1 overall record against a familiar foe on Wednesday as the Green Wave play host to No. 7 LSU at 7 p.m. in Fogelman Arena.

Final Bob Toledo’s Weekly Football Radio Show Moved to 6 p.m. this Wednesday

The final Bob Toledo weekly radio show will take place from 6-6:40 p.m. this Wednesday at Bruno’s Tavern (located at 7538 Maple Street). The show was moved up to avoid conflicting with the Tulane women’s basketball game against nationally ranked LSU on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Tulane University senior running back Andre Anderson has been named to the 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He is the first Tulane football student-athlete to receive Academic All-America first team honors since David Hebert in 1971.

Sims Last Second Shot Falls Off the Rim as Tulane Comes Up Just Short

Kevin Sims’ 10 foot jumper from the right side of the key fell of the side of the rim as time expired and the Tulane Green Wave fell to LaSalle, 61-59, in the final game of the Charleston Classic on Sunday afternoon in the Carolina First Arena.

Sophomore center Brett Benzio posted her second double-double of the young season with 16 points and 14 rebounds and the Green Wave defense posted a season-high 14 steals as the Tulane University women’s basketball team defeated Loyola (Md.), 58-43, in the consolation game of the Navy Classic Saturday afternoon at Alumni Hall.

Struggling Offense, Turnovers Plague Tulane Football in 49-0 Loss at UCF

Tulane senior Jeremy Williams became the fifth player in school history to surpass 1,000 receiving yards in a single season, but that was about the only thing that went right for the Wave as UCF forced TU into a season-high five turnovers and reeled off 28 points in the third quarter to hand Tulane a 49-0 loss in front of 31,390 at Bright House Networks Stadium.

In the matchup of the two Conference USA volleyball co-Players of the Year, it was the Freshman of the Year who stole the show. Tulsa freshman Tyler Henderson posted a match-high 18 kills as the Golden Hurricane swept Tulane out of the semifinals of the Conference USA Championship Saturday afternoon at Tudor Fieldhouse, (25-19, 25-19, 25-20)
