Tulane posted an impressive three-game sweep at No. 21 East Carolina over the weekend. With four wins during the week, the Green Wave has now won 12 of their last 16 games, including its fourth consecutive C-USA series victory. Freshman 3B/P Rob Segedin hit .364 (8-for-22) with a .636 slugging percentage courtesy of a three doubles and a home run while driving in a team-best nine runs in the Green Wave’s five-game week. Over the weekend at ECU, the big rookie went 6-for-14 (.429) with two doubles and a home run, and even got into the action on the mound with a save in Friday’s season-opening, 5-4 victory. Sophomore SS Josh Prince hit .600 (6-for-10) with a double, a home run, a stolen base and four runs scored in the ECU series. After going 1-for-4 in Friday’s 5-4 win, Prince went 2-for-3 in game one of Saturday’s doubleheader before going 3-for-3 with a double and a home run in the nightcap. Prince now has a hit in each of his last four ballgames, and ranks second on the team with 17 stolen bases while scoring 18 runs. Junior RHP Shooter Hunt became the fourth Tulane hurler in as many years to post 100 strikeouts in a single season and now has 105 Ks in 2008. Since joining the Green Wave prior to the 2007 season, Hunt is a combined 15-7 with a 2.33 ERA and a .195 opponent batting average. In 28 games at Tulane Hunt has a 10.61 strikeout-per-nine-inning average and a 2.90 strikeout-to-walk ratio after fanning 209 batters and walking 72 in 177.1 innings.
